Appreciate What You Have

This year I am especially grateful because after four years my book will be hitting Amazon for sale on February 14, 2012. I have to admit this is not a task for the light hearted. I have never worked as hard on a project in my life. At times I felt I was way beyond my capabilities. There were many sleepless nights and upset stomachs but I made it through. I never could have done all of this without the brilliant women who have supported me through this journey.

I know there was a divine intervention on my behalf to find me the most incredibly patient, talented and committed professionals to help me bring this book and the message it contains to those in need. I am so touched by the women that have reached out to share their lives with me. I am honored to be able to discuss the process of the five steps of Faith from the book with you. My mission is to help women to stop suffering and to discover their power so they may transform their lives.

Thank you ladies for making my dream a reality this year.

Sabrina, Melysha, Deborah, D’Vorah, Jana, Ellen, Lynn, and Barbara

You are my Alpha Angels.

I know firsthand that God gives us what we need if we are open to receive it. Without the continual inspiration and guidance from my husband, I might not have made it to the finish line. Michael, you are my rock. I never would have attempted writing the book without your support. You inspire me to do more than I ever thought possible.

I hope that all of you will experience the same appreciation for what you have this Holiday season. It is so easy to become swept away by all the advertising to buy and buy and buy more. The things that really make us feel the best in life are those things that you cannot buy. Embrace the people you have in your life. Appreciate them for who they are. Time passes so quickly and sadly we can lose those we love.

With heart felt gratitude and deep appreciation, I wish you and your family Happy and Healthy Holidays.

Mal

Thankfulness

There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” — Albert Einstein

One of my favorite holidays is celebrated this week. Thanksgiving Day is a wakeup call to all the wonderful things I have in my life. For so many years, I was unable to see the goodness in my life. I felt alone, unloved and helpless. Today, my life has transformed from those moments of self-imposed suffering.

I am looking out my window, seeing the bright blue sky and the rolling landscape known as “Beverly Hills”, California. I am here to spend Thanksgiving with my step-children and my nephew, Lawrence. There will be about twenty of us for dinner on Thursday. My assignment for the day is desserts; just perfect for the Queen of cupcakes. I am going to Magnolia’s, the legendary bakery from Sex in the City to scope all the goodies they will have. Then it will be the pie store to sample the pecan and apple pies. Oh well, somebody had to do it. Besides having an assignment I just love, I am really grateful for all the other goodness that I am experiencing in my life.

I am surrounded by people that love and support me in my vision.

I completed my book.

All the people I love are in good health.

I have the most sweet and adorable dog, Hannah. I wish she we here with us in Los Angeles.

I have the ability to make the most empowering choices in my life.

So my wish for you this week is to connect with all the miracles you have but may not realize. There is goodness in all our lives if we just look for it. Let go of all your fears and connect with the light and love that is within. Find a few of the small things you are grateful for and start to make your own list, adding a few more daily. Watch your energy shift as your list expands.

There is nothing like being an awakened, authentic and abundant woman… Yes an Alpha Chick.

Resistance or Acceptance – Which Do You Choose?

Handcuffed to Resistance or Free from Acceptance?

Acceptance: noun “to regard as true.”

When you accept something, you are not saying that you approve, you are simply no longer resisting it. When you resist, you put valuable energy into a situation that cannot be changed. You are unable to rewrite the script. So why invest your valuable energy into something you cannot change? Why hold on so dearly to a situation that has no bearing on where you are today? Instead, accept the situation. By accepting you are able to release the hold that you have put on yourself. Once you accept, you can reclaim your power and your right to choose.

Many unbearable things may happen to us in life. The longer we resist, the harder we try to change the situation which results in more suffering. By accepting these unbearable situations, we can free our hearts and minds from endless days of anguish.

I personally carried disappointments and failed relationships around for years. They were the root of my self-imposed suffering. The pain I felt created an image of worthlessness and doom. I embraced alcohol to make myself feel better. At first that worked, but then the pain reoccurred. Before long I was consumed again and feeling there was no way to survive the pain. At a very low moment, I realized I could accept all the heartache I felt, as it no longer had any bearing on my current reality. The veil of illusion was lifted and an awakened woman emerged.

So much of personal suffering is tied to resistance. Open your minds and your hearts.Welcome in acceptance and feel the shift of your personal power rush though you. Step 2 of the Alpha Chick Process is to say “I accept disappointments, fears and sorrows so I may free myself from a past that no longer serves me, and I consciously change my attitude so that I may live the joyous life that is always available to me”.

How can you apply this to your own life? Please share some of your action steps.

Live Faithfully,
Mal Duane

The Past Has No Power

“The past has no power over the present moment.”

~ Eckhart Tolle.

Why do we have such a difficult time letting go of the past? I can’t count how many days I have spent replaying conversations and scenarios over and over in my head from 20 years ago. I can’t change the outcome; I can’t create a new dialogue; it’s done! So why is this a common problem for so many people?  Is it our need to be right? Is it the little voice from the ego trying to give it a new spin and reaffirm you are an even bigger loser?

I spent almost twenty years of my life living in the past and feeling the pain of dreadful relationships stinging the walls of my heart all over again. I can assure you, I am not a masochistic person, but I could not let go of some of these old tapes, no matter how hard I tried. The past became my identity in the present.  After many years of reading and studying great masters of self –help and awakened consciousness, I finally figured this out: “The past has no power over the present moment.”

Now when I listen to women talk and they start describing something that happened six months ago that is creating awful pain for them today, I can reason with them intelligently that it has no bearing on who they are. At first they don’t get it but as they look at me with wide eyes like a deer in the headlights, it hits them. “The past has no power over the present moment.” They are not defined but that nasty divorce, or the huge blow up they had with a fellow employee. It has no bearing on who they are as a human being.  We are spiritual beings having a human experience. Our past mistakes have nothing to do with who we are today.

My past is littered with awful mistakes that I made. Many of them caused me sleepless nights.  Being able to put it all into perspective empowers me now. I understand my mistakes, I have learned from them. They are not my best buddies anymore; I don’t need to carry them around. I can honestly admit that I caused my own suffering for many years by holding on to old stuff that blocked my true sense of self and my reality.

How do you unclutter your present moment by releasing painful thoughts from the past?

I would love to hear from you.

Live Faithfully,
Mal Duane
